Enterprise Partners (EP) in partnership with the Ethiopian Institute of Corporate Governance (EICG), organised a consultative workshop on November 21, 2017 to discuss the role of financial institutions in Ethiopia’s green economy. The meeting brought together representatives from the country’s esteemed microfinance institutions, banks and insurance companies. Representatives from the NBE, DBE, MEFCC and EDRI also attended the event. EP’s objective was to initiate discussions on the opportunities, challenges and work that needs to be done to align the financial sector to Ethiopia’s Climate Resilient Green Economy Strategy and its SDG commitments.

The workshop comprised two working group sessions in which participants identified action areas for further engagement. All of the FIs which attended the event indicated their interest to continue to work in this area in collaboration with EP and EICG.
